Sustainable Forestry Management
A: List the major ideas, concepts or key points- point by point
In this article it talks about sustaining the management of trees can help reduce deforestation. Scientist tried to help loggers reduce the amount of trees that they cut and still make money out of it. Doing this will allow the forest to regrow and have plenty more to cut. Logging companies are cutting down valuable trees and not maintaining what they cut and letting them grow back before they cut down more. Sustaining management requires the loggers to stop cutting and to replant the seeds for more trees to grow. Not only is there the worry of loggers cutting down trees but we they also face the threat of strong winds, fire, diseases and other natural causes.

My reaction to this article is not shocking at all. I believe that we are destroying so many things in our environment that everyone thinks it has become normal. I think that it is a good thing that scientist are letting loggers know what they are able to cut down and until when because that gives time for other trees to grow back so humans are not totally destroying the earth. As for natural causes that are causing deforestation, yes I am a little bit shocked. There aren't many things we can do to prevent that. All we can do is be on the look out for fires so they do not spread and burn the whole forest or community down.
So What?
This is important because it gives everybody awarness on what is going on in our world. It can make people really think about what they are doing and help stop deforestation! The more people caring, the more change the world will have.

What If...?
What If we didn't do anything and continued to let trees be cut down?
If we continued to do what we are doing now then all the trees would be cut down. There would be an extreme lack of oxygen and the trees would end up having a hard time to grow. This would be a very bad thing for our environment and we need to do everything possible to make sure that this does not happen.
What Does This Remind You Of?
This reminds me of The Lorax because in the movie they were cutting down the trees and there were none left in the end. Not only were they left with no trees but they were left with a polluted environment. We will have a terrible environment without trees. Humans are polluting the air as is and it can make everything even worse by not having trees.
- Tropical rain forests a lot of rich array of flora and fauna
- Even though it has all these richness, deforestation is still happening on a large scale
- Forest management helps producers with their interest in conservation
- Uncontrolled logging would could lead to putting all trees into a marketable size
- Efforts to save mahogany could disturb a lot forests and can surely be compromised
- Tropical trees are highly valuable, but are being cut down for practice in the tropics
- Logging companies don't show concerns of of the species and don't intend to help them regenerate
- Trees could plummet if wind, fire or diseases destroy them
- Logging should be managed where the forest is sustainable for timber and not hurting the environment a lot
